Borealis is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins (mainly plastic granulate in the form of pellets), base chemicals and fertilisers. Borealis operates in over 120 countries, mainly in Europe, and has three production sites in Belgium: Beringen, Kallo and Zwijndrecht, with a total of approximately 800 employees. In Beringen, Borealis has two polypropylene (PP) plants and a compounding plant. In Kallo, Borealis produces up to 300.000 tonnes of polypropylene. It also operates a dehydrogenation unit to convert propane to propylene at 480.000 tonnes per year. In Zwijndrecht, Borealis produces up to 65.000 tonnes of compounds for low density polyethylene per year.

Borouge, a Borealis jointventure with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), operates the largest petrochemical complex in the world.
