Zeeland Refinery

Zeeland Refinery (ZR) processes crude oil to fuels and raw materials for the chemical industry. The refinery is a joint venture between oil companies TotalEnergies (55%) and Litasco (45%).

Our refinery is situated in the industrial area of Vlissingen-Oost in Zeeland. We have a distillation capacity of 180.000 barrels of crude oil per day and a hydrocracking unit, one of the largest in Europe, with a capacity of 68.000 barrels per day. ZR is technically one of the most efficient refineries and performs as one of the best in Western Europe. We have 420 employees and more than 250 employees from permanent maintenance contractors also work in the refinery.

Innovation plays a major role in our refinery in modernisation and expansion projects that are constantly being carried out. Because of this we have, for example, been able to more than double the capacity of the hydrocracker, our catalytic conversion unit, compared to the original ‘name plate’ capacity of 205m3/h. The continuous improvement of reliability and therefore availability of the units is also of huge importance for the refinery’s profitability. As a chemical engineer, you could offer a significant contribution to these developments.

We are regularly looking for chemical engineers and have positions available in the Engineering, Production Planning, Production, Environment and Safety departments. In many cases, as a chemical engineer graduate you would initially begin working as a process engineer. After gaining experience in various units you would move to other departments, even in supervisory and management positions. You would always be working in an international environment with the possibility of an international career with our shareholders, TotalEnergies and Litasco.
